This is a BBC drama that ran from 1975-77. It was created by Terry Nation, who also created The Tripods. The basic plot is that a viral disease has wiped out almost everyone and very few people have survived. I only saw it for the first time about 10 years ago and I was immediately drawn right in. There was a 2008 remake, but I prefer the original.

Big Finish audiobooks have done quite a few new series based on the original storylines. They're done in the style of BBC Radio dramas - properly produced and acted.
They're great, but you will need to cough up half a lung.

I just found out about this book, so I checked on ebay. It's going for £85!

But that search did lead me to http://www.survivorstvseries.com/

Another very good fan site.

Look forward to watching that, I've heard a lot about it.

In a similar vein, The Changes from 1975 is something of a forgotten sci-fi classic. Amazing to think this occupied the teatime slot on BBC1 and was aimed chiefly at kids.

Preview pics from the first series of the 2008 remake. The remake is pretty good, but there were only 12 episodes and it was left hanging at the end of series 2, which was a proper shame.
