I remember a lot of good comedy being on BBC2 during the early 00's and Dead Ringers was a favourite. One sketch I enjoyed had Brian Sewell (i.e. Jon Culshaw) in a working men's club giving a lecture on "the great composers". 

I'd love to see that again.

Using poor quality source video really doesn't work well. Those flashes of colour would carry through the upscale and just be emphasised.
